WHAT PART DON’T THEY UNDERSTAND?
Lately immigration illegal and illegal have been much in the news. President Bush has a plan, (Or so he says) the US Senate has plan, and the US House of Representatives has a plan. It seems that all branches of the US Federal Government has a plan.
There is one other assembly of people in the US who have a plan and that’s US citizens, i.e. voters. Poll after poll reflects the wishes of US citizens and the overwhelming majority of US citizens want the 'borders secured and illegal immigration stopped.' The polls are also clear on granting 'amnesty', the majority of American citizens are against 'amnesty' or the other words for amnesty ‘work permits’.
Now what part of the wishes of the majority of American citizens is not clear? I see no doubt about what we want and its within the power of the US Government to do what we want.
However instead of bowing to the wishes of their constituents the US Senate is debating the ‘rights of illegal aliens’. Some in the US Senate wish to reward ‘illegal aliens’ by making them illegible for SS even though they gain that illegibility by fraudulent means. Sort of like if you steal a car you get it keep it because if you return the car and are prosecuted for theft not only won’t you have a car you’ll go to jail for theft.
In my mind the only thing that should be of concern to the US Federal Government is the rights of US citizens and the securing of our national borders. Mexico’s or any other nations unemployment problem does not constitute an emergency on our part. (Or at least it shouldn’t) However ‘business interests’ in the US lobby for cheap labor no matter what the real price is for the nation as a whole.
We are never going to solve the ‘illegal invader’ problem in this nation until we make the use of ‘illegal invaders’ very expensive. Hefty fines, hefty prison terms, or what I’d like to see is the confiscation of all the assets of any business caught employing ‘illegal invaders’.
We have lost control of the entire nation to business as a whole, because the difference between government and business hasn’t just blurred its gone. Business and government have become one and the same and that is not a good thing. I realize business must make a profit, however profit does not come before all, and profit never comes before the good of the entire nation.
