Thanks to the release of Al Gore’s latest effort on global warming – this time in book and movie form – climate change is the hot topic in press rooms around the globe. It isn’t the first time.

The media have warned about impending climate doom four different times in the last 100 years. Only they can’t decide if mankind will die from warming or cooling.

As the noise from the controversy has increased, it has drowned out any debate. Journalists have taken advocacy positions, often ignoring climate change skeptics entirely. One CBS reporter even compared skeptics of manmade global warming to Holocaust deniers.

The Society of Environmental Journalists Spring 2006 SEJournal included a now-common media position, arguing against balance. But that sense of certainty ignores the industry’s history of hyping climate change – from cooling to warming, back to cooling and warming once again.

The Media Research Center’s Business & Media Institute (formerly the Free Market Project) conducted an extensive analysis of print media’s climate change coverage back to the late 1800s.

It found that many publications now claiming the world is on the brink of a global warming disaster said the same about an impending ice age – just 30 years ago. Several major ones, including The New York Times, Time magazine and Newsweek, have reported on three or even four different climate shifts since 1895.

If memory serves me aright it has been said over and over again that the earth has been through 100's if not 1000's of climate shifts and 99.99% of those shifts in climate came before humans were on the earth. The earth was once upon a time nearly all tropical and now its not and humans had nothing to do with that change.

IMO, people who really believe that mankind is capable of destroying or altering the earth's climate have more than a touch of arrogance in them. Of course the Moon-Bat Left and MSM are playing a key role in all this hyperbole concerning climate change so arrogance is a given in any case.

Again IMO, the Left plays to this irrational fear of climate change so that government and by extension the Left can regulate more and more of what people do in regards to energy, lifestyle, and many other things. The Left is dead sure they know best for all the rest of us no matter what we may feel about the matter. Al Gore is just the latest in a long line of Lefty wanna control freak Moon-Bats who will say or do anything to further the Lefts agenda.

MSM plays to global warming and flip flops as per usual because the entire topic is good copy and provide endless hours for pundits for and against to be interviewed with photo ops galore.

My final words on climate change are these. Yes the climate is changing just like its done on this planet since day one. Is mankind causing this climate shift? No mankind is not causing climate change, its just the nature of the planet we live on. Is climate change going to cause some people in some parts of the world major problems? Well of course it is and that's just how things work and we as humans cannot do anything about it. I believe that last part really does piss the Left off as much as anything else.
