Dig for Hoffa could cost up to $500K

Dig for Hoffa could cost up to $500K

Charges unlikely even if remains of ex-Teamsters boss are found, feds say.

The search for Jimmy Hoffa's remains will cost hundreds of thousands of dollars but could answer one of the great mysteries of the 20th century -- where is the body of the former Teamsters president?

While it is the federal government spending the money, officials concede that federal criminal charges in the case are unlikely, and if there are any charges at all, they would most likely come from the Oakland County prosecutor.

The search and recent investigative efforts will cost a "minimum of six figures" and will likely top $250,000, several federal officials told The Detroit News. One official said the total could climb to $500,000.

Peter Henning, a Wayne State University law professor and former federal prosecutor, said the search seems like an FBI mission.

"I get the feeling the U.S. attorney's office is willing to say to the FBI, 'If you want it, you got it.' This would make someone's career. Everyone wants to play the lottery," he said.

WOW! I'm underwhelmed to say the least 500K to look for the bones of a union crook so some FBI suit can preen and parade around for the press. With as the article states, most likely no charges pressed!

Like I said before we have pressing problem in the US and what happened to and where the bones are of a convicted union crook is not one of those problems.
