WASHINGTON -- President George W. Bush has approved a deal that lets a Dubai-owned company take over nine American plants that make parts for the U.S. military.
The president's spokesman, Scott McClellan, said a thorough review showed the deal "does not compromise" national security.
The decision comes just weeks after a political firestorm forced another Dubai-owned company to abandon plans to run terminal operations at six U.S. ports.
McClellan said the new deal is a "different situation," and added the company, Dubai Capital International, has signed an agreement providing assurances there will be no interruption in supply.
The U.S. plants involved in the deal make parts for tanks and aircraft, including turbine blades.
House leadership aides said the White House briefed lawmakers from both parties and everyone agreed needed safety measures were in effect.
Sen. Chuck Schumer, who strongly opposed the ports deal, said this new contract was reviewed "in a careful, thoughtful way."
"The opportunity to infiltrate and sabotage is both more difficult and more detectable," he said.

Is there nothing we won't farm out? Apparently there is not! Bush & Co must really owe the rags in Dubai or Bush & Co are going to make yet more money off this.
Check the last sentence in the article. WTF, if we kept it in house infiltration and sabotage would not be a problem. I swear we'll farm our nukes out next. The assholes in D.C. are giving the whole country away piece by piece!
