Upbeat is one thing as in saying, "Well I'm upbeat on saying this structure. The entire structure is not fully involved yet." It's quite another thing to remain upbeat about saving the structure when the roof is collapsing and the whole structure is involved.

While it is still possible to snatch victory from the arms of defeat in Iraq we will never do it following the procedures that led to the debacle in V/Nam. And that is exactly what I see the US doing in Iraq. Many of this administrations movers and shakers cut their teeth in the V/Nam era. You would have thought they would have learned from that experience, however it seems many of them did not. Or maybe its just the nature of beast to not see the forest for the trees.
